The Blue Sky Tag

the-blue-sky-tag

Thank you to Ramblings of a writer for the nomination to do this tag. I really enjoyed reading her answers, she has such a positive, up beat, perspective to life. The answer to question number 8 “What motivates you?  Waking up every morning, good enough excuse to go motivated.” Waking up every morning. I like that, a lot. Her answers are so pure and lovely – can I say cute? – You can’t help but feel happy after reading them 🙂

Right, lets get down to business!

The rules of the tag are:

1.  Thank the person(people) who nominated you.

      2. Answer their 11 questions.

      3. Tag 11 people.

      4. Give them 11 questions to answer.

Here are the questions and my answers:

1.What made you start your very own blog?

Being mental. After having Jess in 2015 I developed (that’s not the right word) depression and anxiety. If found great comfort reading how other women felt the same as I did. I wanted an outlet for my crazy and to share my experience/journey with others. I’m a firm believer that the more we share the more the stigma grip surrounding mental health with loosen.

2. What do you prefer, books or movies?

I like books, but I don’t read often – or at all. I would still have to pick a book over a film. I find I can get more submerged in a book than a film, it’s more relaxing.

3.What motivates you to write routinely on your blog?

Being called out for going AWOL on my blog. I’m on WP everyday, but I don’t write that often, not compared to some bloggers. I struggle to find time. I have a few bloggy friends, I keep them in mind when it’s been 4 days and I haven’t blogged, being British I hate to be rude (Offt, shudders. I’m Scottish, but the saying is that British people hate to be rude.)

4.Name one song that describes you.

I’m going slightly mad by Queen. Kidding, I am mad but (thankfully) not ill. That might have been a terrible choice, let me think of a better, less morbid song….

Firestarter by The Prodigy. No, that’s not right either.

I’m wakened and I’m lazy by X-Press 2. Mmm, again this isn’t right. I have a toddler, that is defined as the opposite of lazy.

This is very hard, how about I name songs that aren’t me? That’s much easier.

It’s oh so quiet by Bjork.

Oh no wait, I have it! This is me:

Creep by Radiohead!

*I just Googled the actual meaning of the song, jeezaloo! Hit the nail on the head there eh? I was just going to make a joke about how I’m a creepy wee beast that likes to pinch and tap on my friends bums. And boobs. And anywhere I can. I also hide and creep on Dave. Turns out I am a creep and an insecure one to boot.*

5.What is the one habit you would like to develop the most?

The habit of having patience. I have a toddler, it would come in very useful.

6.If you are given 36 hours of time, which tourist destination would you like to visit?

The one with the longest flight so I can sleep for a loooooooong time on the plane. Like I said, I have a toddler. However, if I need to take that toddler, I guess I would love to take her to Disney World. She has recently developed a strong love for Disney. Maybe too strong a love for Bolt, arguably the worst Disney in our collection.

7.What is your favorite topic to blog about?

My favourite topic, when I’m feeling it, is humour. Sarcastic humour. Also known as my perspective on life. Don’t give me that fairy tale bull of kids, babies are hard work and watching Paw Patrol while being asked for the umpteenth time for a snack is annoying as fudge. On the flip side I enjoy writing about my mental health. It’s a great release for me, I genuinely think it has helped improve my..self? No, that’s not the word I’m looking for. More like, it’s improved my outlook, my positively, my understanding, my guilt/shame, my self loathing and my family life. Actually maybe ‘self’ is the correct word.

8.If you could meet one famous person, who would it be?

I would like to meet any member of the royal family. I would drag their arse around the real Britain. Take them to food banks, baby banks, housing estates, community centres, shopping centres, primary schools, secondary schools, the areas I grew up and ask them do they think, with the masses of wealth in this country (and the world) that this is fair? Moral?  Ask why they get to sit on an opulent jeweled throne (don’t give me that divine right pish) spouting what is best for the country, while people are forced to feed their children from food banks and they grow more wealthy?

I don’t detest the Royal Family, I detest any individual that oppresses another for their own gain. Well maybe I do then. It’s wrong to have so much while so many have so little, ain’t no need for silver service and golden thrones, but there is a need for more council housing and help to families. Just sayin.

Didn’t mean to get on my soap box there, I’ll get off it, for now.

9.What is the one thing that you are most proud of?

I should say my daughter, but I’m not going to. I’m proud that I am very independent, not in a ‘I don’t need nobody!’ way. More a ‘I’ll give it a go’ or ‘I can do it’ kinda way. I don’t like to rely on others too much, so I always have a focus to prepare for the future and work towards something I want with a positive ‘I can do it’ attitude rather than a ‘that’s a bloody big mountain to climb’ attitude. Somehow, despite my mentalness, Iv still managed to cling on to this attitude over the past two years since shooting out a Jess. I believe my independence is what pushed me to seek help and stick with it, so I would say my independence is what I am most proud of.

10.What is the one thing that you wish to create?

I wish to create a stable, loving, understanding, kind, compassionate and honest household. Dave and I both want Jess to see us as a confidant, a friend, an equal. We really hope we can create a family home (relationship) that Jess will be comfortable expressing who she is, a place that she can air her worries, a place that she knows she can always turn to without fear of, well, anything. I would be absolutely heartbroken if Jess ever felt the need to conceal anything from us (teenage drinking aside), I want to create a family life where she never feels the need to hide anything from us.

My questions to the nominees are:

  1. Why did you start your blog? (I know, I’v stole this question, but I think it’s a good un)
  2. Who is your favourite blogger and why?
  3. What are you most grateful for?
  4. What is your biggest strength?
  5. What is your biggest weakness?
  6. Have you visited another country?
  7. What new skill would you like to learn?
  8. What, if anything, gets your blood boiling?
  9. Where is your happy place?
  10. What is your most prized possession?
  11. What is  your earliest childhood memory?

Feel free to have a go if you like, or not. I know some people like/loathe and will not entertain awards/tags, so sorry if I have tagged you and you really hate them. If I haven’t tagged you and you want to do it, then dae it anyway!
